How long have you being doing CrossFit and why did you start?
I started CrossFit in July 2014. I wanted to try something different, I had been going to the gym for years on and off, doing classes, PT sessions and challenges at the gym, then I would lose motivation and stop going for a few weeks, my weight would fluctuate and the gym turned into a chore.
How has CrossFit helped you?
CrossFit has helped me find that motivation again, the gym is no longer a chore it’s fun and a part of my day I look forward to. It’s changed my lifestyle to the happiest and healthiest I have ever been.
What do you like the most about CrossFit?
There is always a challenge to be met, there is always an improvement to be made which makes every day different. It’s not just about how many calories you’re going to burn in a class. It’s about performance and skills doing things you’ve never done or attempted to do and being surprised at the outcome. You need push yourself to your limits get out of your comfort zone to see the results you’ve always wanted.
What do you like about RFX CrossFit Facilities and Coaches?
RFX is the biggest rig in Perth and the only box that is open 24 hours. The facilities and equipment are all brand new and the coaches are skilled, qualified, encouraging and approachable. They are passionate about what they do and are always watching to make sure that you’re doing the movement correctly and safely.
How do you find the RFX community?
I have never been in a more supportive and positive environment. Every day is full of laughter, jokes and everyone is friends. It’s more like a family and no matter how big or small the achievement is everyone will support and celebrate with you.
What would you say to a new member who may be scared or intimidated to start CrossFit?
It is always scary to step out your comfort zone and try something new. But I’m sure you’ve heard it before life begins at the end of your comfort zone and everything you’ve ever wanted is that one step outside your comfort zone.
Would you ever train any other way?
CrossFit incorporates so many different ways of training, I started in July 2014 and I haven’t trained any other way, best lifestyle change I ever made.*
