My desire to train initially started as a need to change the lifestyle I had developed. In my younger years, I was always heavily involved in sports and recreational activities such as swimming, netball, track and field and ice-skating to name a few.
Through my high school years, I veered away from athletic activities and began to spend more of my time partying. Now while there is nothing wrong with socialising and enjoying life and time with friends, I soon found the place I was in was not a healthy place, both physically, mentally and emotionally. Since starting training, it has provided me with an avenue to positively change my outlook on life, through the mental and physical disciplines that training tests. One of those tests was an opportunity to compete in my first body building competition in the IFBB women’s physique category, where I won both the novice and overall titles “Yippee”!
This process has helped me to better understand my mind and body.
I hope to be able to reflect the positive lessons I have learned with those I am fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to train.
