1. How long have you been doing CrossFit and why did you start?
I have been doing CrossFit for about 2.5 years. I started training with Coach Clint prior to CrossFit and liked the way he trained so when he started teaching CrossFit, I naturally just continued my training with him. Initially I was only doing 2-3 CrossFit classes per week but have changed to daily. It has become a lifestyle for me.
2. How has CrossFit helped you?
CrossFit has not only helped me to achieve a change in body shape, it has also enabled me to learn more about what is good for my body and why. Having just reached the age of 50 yrs, I found I was struggling to maintain a weight loss that I had achieved a number of years ago. I have found as I have got older I had started to develop body fat around my stomach, hips and thighs, while this was not excessive, CrossFit has helped me to lose and maintain the loss. CrossFit has also helped me to achieve better posture.
3. What do you like the most about CrossFit?
I like the variety of the workouts mostly but I also really like the fact that CrossFit challenges me in a way I never thought possible. While there are aspects of the training I find difficult, it gives me something to keep working towards. CrossFit keeps pushing me to be fitter and stronger. I now have a sense of empowerment due to what I have achieved.
4. What do you like about RFX CrossFit Facilities and Coaches?
The facilities are Top Notch and the coaches, Clint and Corey both have an abundance of knowledge and are more than happy to share this. They keep a close eye on all participants to ensure they are executing the moves correctly in a manner to avoid injury. They encourage all participants to work to the best of their ability, and understand that everyone has different levels of ability.
5. How do you find the RFX Community?
I really enjoy the community feel and about how the other Athletes really get involved in the achievement of all the participants. The encouragement is amazing and inspiring. All participants are well catered for, as all moves can be scaled to something that is achievable. RFX CrossFit feels like an extended family.
6. What would you say to new member who may be scared or intimidated to start CrossFit?
I would definitely say, what stopping you from trying? You have everything to gain and nothing to lose, except maybe a few pounds! You may just be surprised at what you can achieve.
7. Would you ever train any other way?
I love CrossFit so when I’m visiting family in Sydney, I find a local box and train there. I train 5-6 days a week and only train other ways when there is no class on.
